Since 2006 you can find our Floating Church, our “Flusi” at the Inland Port, near the City Centre of Hamburg. 2007 a foundation took over to keep and run this special church, after the Evangelical-Lutheran Church gave it up and cut all support with Church tax funds.

For a project „church in the port“ both, the church and foundation once again joined forces to enhance services of the Floating Church: Especially for people who work or live in the port are in the focus, but also the people of Hamburg and tourists.

The ship is as long as 26 metres and 7 metres wide. 1906 built, it was reconstructed into a Floating Church 1952. There is even a pipe organ on board since 1961. A team of volunteering pastors, deacons and preachers leads the weekly church-services, celebrates weddings, christenings and special blessings on board.

The Floating Church is also popular for cultural events, like concerts, readings and lectures The „Flusi“ is of course part of the annual celebrations of the ports birthday, as it is part of the day of the open monument and the long night of the churches.
